5 Tips to Stay Healthy While You Travel

We’re getting excited for the holiday season at Red Arrow, and we want you to have the best holiday season with us. During cold and flu season, we wanted to share some tips on staying healthy while you travel.

1. Take your multi-vitamins

Multi-vitamins are great because they give your body the vitamins it doesn’t receive through regular meals. Think of it as ‘filling in the blanks’ for where you’re lacking nutrients. Taking multi-vitamins helps boost your immune system and increase your energy – which is exactly what you need while travelling. Instead of bringing the huge multi-vitamin bottle with you, put the appropriate amount into an old pill container for your travels.

 

2. Always pack hand sanitizer

While it’s clear you have the travel bug, you don’t want to get any other bugs. Germs are inevitable while travelling because you’re interacting with so many different people and places. Always pack hand sanitizer in your carry-on or somewhere that’s easily accessible. Apply it once every hour or as needed. Often if you look in the travel section of most stores, there are travel hand sanitizers available that will clip onto your bag for easy access.

 

3. Sleep every chance you get

Sleep is one of the best things for your body, and it’s completely free! It gives your body time to relax, rejuvenate, and heal any parts that need it. Sleep strengthens your immune system, can help improve memory and alertness, and recharge your cardiovascular system. Luckily, the comfortable leather seats in our motorcoaches recline, so you can snooze for as long as your journey allows.

 

4. Drink lots of water

Hydration is one of the easiest and most important ways you can maintain good health in your body. Roughly 60 per cent of your body consists of water, so doesn’t it make sense to drink lots of water? Fluids are crucial to maintain every system in the body, from your heart to your brain! When the body becomes dehydrated, the body can’t function normally and can lead to illness. We have complimentary bottles of water onboard our coaches. We also have soda pop, coffee, tea, and cookies if you feel like having a treat.

 

5. Walk anywhere you can

It’s so easy for us to order an Uber or a taxi once we’re at our destination, that we sometimes forget about the first way humans travelled – by walking! If you don’t have too many bags with you, try walking to your destination instead of opting for the easier and faster forms of transportation like cabs. This will also give you an opportunity to take in the local sights and sounds and have a more meaningful experience. Your body will appreciate the walk, whether it’s before or after travelling on one of our motorcoaches.
