your_trip_on_the_red_arrowAs any seasoned traveler knows, it’s good to be prepared. Long trips can drag on if you aren’t comfortable, or have nothing to keep you occupied. Luckily we’re here to help at Red Arrow. We’ve put together some tips to help you get the most out of your next trip. Don’t forget to sign up for the Frequent Traveler program before you leave!

Dress Appropriately

It’s good to dress in layers when traveling. That way you can add or remove articles of clothing for optimal comfort. In the summer you’ll want to dress cool enough to be comfortable outside, but warm enough to not get chilly while riding in the air conditioned coach.

Freshen Up

If you have a long trip (3+ hours) wear deodorant and, if necessary, pack extra deodorant, mouthwash, and a fresh pair of socks in your carry-on. You can freshen up partway through your trip and arrive at your destination feeling clean and refreshed. You can also freshen up at the ticket office when you arrive. But please stay away from using too much cologne or perfume, as it can be bothersome to other passengers.

Be Mindful of Your Neighbors

Anyone who has traveled by bus, train, or plane before understands how important it is to follow proper etiquette when traveling. Here are some things you can do to follow The Golden Rule when travelling on Red Arrow.

  • Make sure the person sitting next to you has enough room by keeping your coat and other personal belongings on your side of the seat. In fact, there is plenty of room in the overhead compartment for your coat.

  • Keep the aisles clear by putting your extras bags in the luggage compartment under the bus.

  • Put your cell phone on silent or vibrate, and keep phone conversations to a minimum.  If you need to take an important call, please keep your voice at a reasonable volume.

  • Wear headphones with your electronic devices.

  • Smoking, the use of electronic cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and drug use are strictly prohibited on all Red Arrow coaches.

Last but not least, make sure to bring something to keep you occupied on the trip. A good book can make the miles zoom by, or use Red Arrow’s complimentary WiFi to catch up on some work. Whatever you choose, making sure you are coming prepared is the best way to have an enjoyable ride on a Red Arrow coach.
