Canada150.pngWith Canada's 150th Birthday just a month away, we spent some time researching some places to go celebrate that you may not have thought of!

We know the entire country is gearing up for some pretty amazing birthday parties, but we think we've got some of the best right here in Alberta. Whether the community is big or small, we've found a busload of things to do!

Fort McMurray, AB: The party lasts for 12 hours!

Beginning at noon on July 1, residents and visitors alike will gather at MacDonald Island park to celebrate. There will be a craft carnival, face painters, bouncy castles and something cool called the Syncrude Balloon Twisters at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre. And, children will have the chance to meet characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninka Turtles and Paw Patrol.

Then, the Main Stage entertainment and Beer Gardens will start rockin' with performances from The Veins, The Sissy Fits and Craig Moritz..

Finally, at exactly 11:59pm, the annual Grand Finale Fireworks presented by Syncrude will light up the sky to celebrate 150 years of confederacy and Canadian pride. Who knows, you may see an aurora or two as well!

Cold Lake, AB: A Beach Birthday!

Cold Lake has an impressive line-up of events going morning through night! From a pancake breakfast to a Fun Run to a parade to a Volleyball Tournament to an all afternoon festival on Kinoso Beach, this is a party you won't want to miss!

To top it all off, grab your lawn chair and enjoy a free evening concert on the beach, with headliner Bif Naked. At dusk, enjoy some amazing fireworks to finish off this incredible beach birthday celebration.

Red Deer, AB: Food! Festival! Fireworks!

Red Deer's day-long festivites at Bower Ponds include all day entertainment on the outdoor stage; an international food court, bouncy castles, face painting and new this year: a  children's festival featuring arts, crafts, games, dancing, storytelling and children performers. The evening ends with a fantastic fireworks display!

Lethbridge, AB: There's an app for that!

Lethbridge has so many things going on in the community that they've developed an app so that you can keep track of it all. With a long list of performers, a kid's zone, pancake breakfast, a Show 'n Shine and shuttles in between, you'll want to get downloading that app asap.

Yes, we know there are at least 150 other things to do in the big cities too, so you may want to check out what Edmonton and Calgary are up to as well. But we just wanted to show that there are some small communities prepping for a BIG party!

And, remember if you're planning to head to any of these #Canada150 celebrations, we can give you a ride!

Happy 150th Canada!
