It seems we're speeding around the bend of the 2018 summer season and oh boy did it fly by! But—don’t go packing up those coolers and backpacks and festival outfits just yet. Luckily, the rest of summer 2018 in Calgary, Alberta, still has loads of fun in store for just about everyone. Whether you live across the province, or just a few hours away, Red Arrow wants to take you there in comfort… so you don’t miss out!

Taste of Calgary

August 9th- 12th. Eau Claire's Festival Plaza (Barclay Parade and 3 Street SW).

Calling all foodies! This tasty four-day festival brings together some of Calgary’s best and buzzed about food vendors, and give visitors the opportunity to sample, sip and soak up the sun. This event boasts free admission, with tasting tickets available for purchase onsite at Eau Claire Festival Plaza. To boot, the festival is paired with a jam-packed live music schedule and local artisan vendors to shop while you eat… with so much to do and see you might forget how full you are. 


August 16th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th. Elliston Park, (1827 68 St SE).

Ever been around the world in a week? GlobalFest might just be the next best thing. Calgary’s premier multicultural festival brings everyone together in the celebration and appreciation of cultural diversity. Food, music, performance stages and activities for the whole family during the day, and a night market and fireworks at night. Each night you can catch featured presentations produced by “world-class pyro musical artists” representing from the Ukraine, Spain, Philippines, and China, with a finale from GlobalFest’s own. 

Country Thunder

August 17th-19th. (Prairie Winds Park, 223 Castleridge Blvd NE).

It’s no doubt that Albertans sure do love their Country music, and there’s nowhere you will find more country fans than in Calgary when Country Thunder sets to light up the weekend. With performances by huge names like Eric Church, Toby Keith, and Jess Moskaluke, there will be no shortage of that southern twang’ under the big bright lights while thousands of cowboy boot-wearing fans kick up the dust to their favorite country songs. Consider bringing a camping chair and drink lots of water if you’re planning on taking in full days on the grounds! 

Calgary International Film Festival 

September 19th - 30th. (200 Barclay Parade SW).

If outside events are not quite in your comfort zone, find yourself in a quiet theatre, taking in some of the most acclaimed indie films of the year at the Calgary International Film Festival. The 12-day showcase hosts 200 multi-genre feature and short films from over 40 countries and is regarded as the largest film festival in Alberta. With ticket bundles or festival passes available, you can scope the schedule for your favorite new short, animated, or full-length movie and tailor your experience, or attend gala events, screenings, and special presentations at your leisure.
